New Book of Sermons of SD Raymond Mascarenhas Released

A new book entitled `Thus He Preached to Them: Homilies of the Servant of God Raymond FC Mascarenhas, ` was released by Bishop A.P. D`Souza at Bethany Motherhouse, Bendur,  at a simple function on the occasion of the celebration of the feast of St Therese  of Child Jesus at 7.30 pm Tuesday, the 30th of September.

The book is a collection of 16 timeless homilies of by Msgr Raymond FC Mascarenhas, founder of Bethany Sisters, compiled and edited by Rev Fr Ronald Serrao, Professor of Theology, St Joseph`s  Seminary, Mangalore. It is published by Asian Trading Corporation (ATC) Bangalore.

Congratulating the editor, Bishop Aloysius express his desire that more sermons of Msgr Raymond be published, he having been one of the most brilliant orators of his time. “These sermons will be of great help for priests, sisters and lay people,” he added. He also recalled the famous sermon of Msgr RFC during the Eucharistic Congress of 1934 delivered at Nehru Maidan.

Fr Ronald said his role in bringing out these sermons was akin to bringing out lighted lamp from under the bed and putting it on the table so that all can see it, and also see other things in it`s light. Stressing on the everlasting quality of the sermons he said, “These sermons were written more than six decades ago, but they are still applicable for our lives.” He advised the sisters to read and meditate on these words of their founder and be enriched by him.

Fr Antony Serrao, Parish Priest of Bendur, Sr Wilberta BS, Superior General of Bethany, Sr Lillis BS, Assistant Superior General, Sr Assumpta BS, General Councilor, Sr Canisia BS, General Councilor and over 60 sisters from several convents were present on the occasion.
