Welcome to Our Site...

Servant of God Mgr Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas, the former Vicar General of the Diocese of Mangalore and the Founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany was a holy priest of the Diocese of Mangalore. His memory is fresh in us, though he went to his eternal abode in the year 1960. He is remembered for his pastoral zeal and commitment.

Mgr Mascarenhas was a renowned educationist of his time and visualized education as a means to give life and transform the ignorant, especially the poor and the girls.

St Paul’s EMHSS, Thenhipalam : 50th Death Anniversary Celebrations

The 50th Death Anniversary of Servant of God Raymond Mascarenhas saw its climax on 10th December 2010 by the celebration at St Paul’s EMHSS, Thenhipalam. Over 300 persons including students, teachers, parents and friends from our BES schools attended the function.

The programme commenced with a Eucharistic celebration officiated by the Bishop of Calicut Most Rev Dr Joseph Kalathiparambil, and a few priests, the friends of Bethany. The homily was preached by Fr William Rajan who heralded the good news of compassion accomplished by our Founder in the contemporary world.

The public programme that followed in the afternoon was presided over by Sr Anseline the Provincial Superior and Mr Abraham Kurien IPS, Retd. DGP currently the Academic Director of START,  was the chief guest.

Sr Anseline in her presidential address eulogized the far sight, foresight and in-depth insight of the Founder establishing the Bethany Educational Society with the aim of educating the neglected and outcastes especially girls of rural areas.

Mr Abraham Kurian noticed the parallelism of his educational Endeavour with that of Gandhi decades ago in the colonial India. He was full of admiration and appreciation for the entire life and works of Founder. His remark “Though late I have known this grate man, I have a thirst to learn more and more of Founder”.

Felicitations were offered by Rev Fathers – Fr Thomas Panackal, Geo Payyapilly, Fr Mathew Adatt and Mr George Joseph the PTA president of the school. Prizes were given away to the winners, to students, teachers and sisters.

Lunch was served for all in the afternoon and snacks in the evening. The gathering was welcomed by Sr Theresild the Asst Provincial Superior and thanked by Sr Jessy Thomas the principal of the school.
