About Mgr Raymond Mascarenhas

Mgr Raymond was the first diocesan priest of city diocese and was declared the Servant of God on June 3, 2008 by a Decree from Rome, by Aloysius Paul, the Bishop of Mangalore.  He is the founder of the congregation of the Sisters of the Littler Flower of Bethany and Bethany Educational Society.

Born in 1875 at Shimoga, he was brought up in Falnir, Milagres Parish. The parish has four-fold reasons to celebrate the 50th death anniversary of this great man.  Firstly, as a parishioner he received his first Holy Communion, offered his first ordination, mass of thanksgiving, and his first assignment as a priest of Mangalore diocese was in the same parish. He also completed his primary education at Milagres School.

It was indeed remarkable that his death anniversary coincided with the Centenary year of Milagres Church.
